Precisely!
Here's THE tweet of the day...This is why I was furious with Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats for not beginning an impeachment inquiry based on Mueller's evidence of obstruction of justice. Each instance he cited was worse than the instance of obstruction documented in the "smoking gun" tape that ended Nixon's presidency -- yet the Dems let it go.Democrats must understand that the nation will read any Articles of Impeachment as "what Trump did wrong." If Trump has committed 25+ impeachable offenses, which he has, and Democrats bring just one, the other 24+ impeachable offenses *disappear forever*. https://t.co/I0zu10Jt8Q— Seth Abramson (@SethAbramson) October 21, 2019
By letting it go, they empowered Trump's narrative: "I was exonerated."
Write to your congressperson. Tell him or her that we do NOT want the Democrats to narrow down the charges. Expand them. I strongly believe that Trump should receive more than 100 charges.
Perhaps the closest historical approximation goes to the impeachment of Andrew Johnson. There was one main charge against him -- his violation of the Tenure of Office Act. But there were ten other charges against him, including "Making three speeches with intent to 'attempt to bring into disgrace, ridicule, hatred, contempt and reproach, the Congress of the United States'" and "Bringing disgrace and ridicule to the presidency by his aforementioned words and actions."
As many others have pointed out, "high crimes and misdemeanors" need not refer to the breaking of actual laws. As Gerry Ford noted, that phrase means anything the House wants it to mean at any given moment in history. If Andrew Johnson can be charged with bringing "disgrace and ridicule" to the presidency, then so can Donald Trump.
And there's so much more...!
Thus Article Precisely!
