Talking About Idlib With Hubby Today... Updates Inc.
Geo politics is one of my favourite topics. Much to hubby’s consternation at times. Though he is my number one sounding board for this blog, since I started here in 08. And yah, we’ve been married for much longer then that! Anyway, while driving in the car today we got to have a really good hashing out about what each of us thinks is occurring.Hubby said “It’s hard to understand the situation entirely”
Sure enough it is. However he continued with these thoughts. I’m paraphrasing and reiterating
Hubby continued- There is no advantage to Syria for Turkey and Russia to fight it out in the north west. None. It would just open up every other front in this situation. If they, Russia, Turkey and Syria for that matter were to go all in fighting, on Syrian territory, the Usrael Kurds will open up their front and start moving. Israel will move as well, likely through Lebanon and on into Syria. Lebanon is compromised and infiltrated. The US has supported their military for some time now. Hezbollah would be all there was between Israel and Syria. Would that be enough to hold Israel at bay? Perhaps? And perhaps not. Hubby is of the mind that Lebanon would be finished.
He's still talking as I type as this conversation continues- he's of the mind that this is a complete exercise in perception management Also mentioning that Turkey has responded hitting a number of Syrian targets and he believes this was done with Russia's full knowledge and acceptance of this taking place.
My husband also wonders if Syria has rogue military commanders? And if they do this problem should be addressed or they, Syria, are stepping into their own grave. For Syria, there is everything to lose. As a state, it would be destroyed. There is no gain. The mayhem, and displacement that would follow would be to horrid to contemplate. Cause let’s face it Russia can simply go home. Make a deal for the port access, which they'd pay for anyway. The region would be slowly remade.
The biggest gain would accrue to the US/Israel, their coalition and Kurdish allies. In that case there is everything to gain.
Which takes me back to the question of why Syria struck Turkish forces they know to be present? No one can realistically deny or credibly claim that Syria is unaware of Turkish presence on their soil. That’s an absurd contention. Syria knows full well that Russia, Turkey and Iran have made numerous agreements between themselves, allowing the presence of Turkish, Russian and Iranian forces on Syrian soil Turkey provides Russia with the locations of Turkish troops. I have to assume that Russia provides this information to Syria.
What’s been an eye opener to me is how little awareness there is of the agreements, years old between the Astana Trio! How could this even be possible? Given the significance of these accords? Sadly, I do get how this came to be and have in fact remarked many times about the lack of awareness, understanding fully these agreements have received little to no coverage in the main stream or alternative media. It also seems to me by very nearly completely ignoring the entente between Turkey, Russia and Iran the alt and main stream media can endlessly demonize Turkey while lionizing Russia. Which is so bizarre since it was Russia that green lighted Turkey’s entrance and positioning in Syria. All these realities have been covered here as much as one lone blogger gal can manage. Mention of these agreements come up time and time again. Which begs the question what does the information consumer think is being referenced when these deals are discussed? If there is no awareness, or very little, regarding these deals how can one understand at all what’s at stake. What’s being talked about? What issues are related? Relevant or not?
UPDATES Begin:
- Russia and Turkey Agree to Safe Guard Civilians- In the demilitarized/de escalation zone.
- France's Macron urges Turkey and Russia to agree ceasefire in Syria
The President of the Republic stressed that an immediate cease to hostilities was needed and called on Russia and Turkey to establish a durable and verifiable ceasefire as they committed to France and Germany at the four-way summit in Istanbul in the autumn 2018,” his office said in a statement.
- Russia and Turkey will discuss all aspects of the Syrian conflict at talks in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin told French President Emmanuel Macron during a phone call, the Kremlin said on Saturday.
Putin and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan agreed on Friday to arrange a meeting to address tensions in Syria’s Idlib province, after the killing of 33 Turkish soldiers in a strike by Syrian government forces, who are backed by Russian air power.
A Kremlin statement on Putin’s conversation with Macron did not specify when the Russian leader would meet Erdogan but officials on both sides have said they are due to meet on March 5 or 6.
Putin also discussed Idlib by phone with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, the Kremlin said in a separate statement.
“A consensus was expressed on the need to fully implement the agreements reached ... regarding, above all, the fight against terrorists, while respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement said.
And finally a nice comment from Laika

Thanks, Penny. You're one of the very few reliable sources, and the expert on Syria. (I learned a lot from you)
I've noticed the near total blackout on talking about the Kurds... And I agree RT and Sputnik are quite likely 5th columns within Russia- I've never thought of RT as a great news resource- though I do use RT here, I also use dozens and dozens of others outlets for information. Because I prefer as broad a palette for information as I can possibly manage. I will not use Southfront at all. Ever. It's garbage.PressTV, SANA, RT, Sputnik - the latter two most certainly in the hands of the NWO's 5th column within Russia (ask Scott Humor) - won't talk about the PKK NWO terrorists, or even promote(d) them.
Apart from east of the Euphrates, there's even an Israel 2.0 enclave still right in the middle of Aleppo, and these CIA terrorists seem to have an airport at Tell Rifaat (supplies for CIA mercenaries in Idlib?) in another Israel 2.0 enclave north of Aleppo which (at least until recently) also bordered on the Idlib de-escalation area.
If only for that reason, it is understandable that Turkey doesn't want to withdraw from [the territories which used to be] Syria, and intended to liberate all of Syria north of the Aleppo - Mosul highway (the M4), which was at least somewhat stalled by Russia / Syria / Iran.
