Each season, The Open Eye Theater accepts submissions of ten-minute plays for consideration in Summer Shortcuts, a program of eight ten-minute plays. In 2021, Summer Shortcuts XI will be performed on stage, on Zoom, or a combination of both, and may be broadcast on WIOX Radio in the Catskills, streaming worldwide at www.wioxradio.org — depending on the COVID-19 situation. The submission window for 2021 is open from May 3-12, only.
Authors of selected plays will be contacted in late June or early July and will receive a modest fee.
Playwrights may submit a maximum of two plays, with no more than 4 characters each. Scripts must be submitted as attachments in Word or PDF format. There is special interest in playwrights from New York State. Family-friendly comedies and dramas with good roles for senior adults are especially appreciated. Submission must include title page with playwright’s name and full contact information, including mailing address. Plays longer than ten-minutes will not be considered.
