Gulfshore Playhouse announces a call for submissions beginning on November 1st, 2017 for their Sixth Annual New Works Festival to take place in August of 2018. The New Works Festival will bring together playwrights and a team of professional actors and directors for a week-long festival. The festival focuses on developing each selected play throughout the week and culminates in a staged reading for an audience.

Starting at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 1st, Gulfshore Playhouse will accept the first 150 submissions from playwrights and agents.

Those interested should submit digital copies of plays that have not had a full production to submissions@gulfshoreplayhouse.org.

Submissions sent prior to 9 a.m. on November 1st will not be considered. At this time, Gulfshore Playhouse is not accepting musical submissions and asks that all submitted plays are full-length.

The New Works Festival finalists are chosen through a blind submission process. Submissions should be sent with two files: a cover page with name and contact information and the script with no playwright information. All submissions should be in PDF format. Scripts not sent in the requested format will not be considered until they are re-submitted in the correct format.

Semifinalists for the Sixth Annual New Works Festival will be announced in the summer of 2018. Semifinalists will be contacted regarding their availability and willingness to participate in the festival which will factor into the selection of the finalists. The finalists will be announced shortly thereafter in the summer of 2018. Each finalist will receive a $500 honorarium as well as airfare and lodging for the duration of the festival.
