web siteThe Dark Room is an "open mic" for playwrights where writers take center stage and their work has a chance to grow. Held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, The Dark Room is open to all writers and performers, as well as audience members interested in cold readings of new scripts. Part of CPT's New Play Development programming, The Dark Room provides new and experienced writers the opportunity to test drive their new play, novel, poem, or any other written material in a supportive, yet critical, environment. Playwrights may bring up to 10 pages of material and actors are cast on the spot. Because this event is virtual, playwrights and actors must sign up in advance. See below for details.

The Dark Room affords emerging and veteran playwrights the space and resources to develop new works. It offers a venue to workshop plays, novels, poems, or any other written work in a supportive, yet critical environment.
TUESDAY, MARCH 9
7:15pm (ET): Zoom Meeting opens
7:30pm – 9:15pm (ET): Open Mic Session readings
Open session readings are first come, first served until all slots have been allotted. Writers may submit up to 10 pages of new work in advance to Mindy Herman at herman.mindy@gmail.com. Space is limited and all submissions will be chosen randomly. Interested in reading? Contact Mindy Herman at herman.mindy@gmail.com. You need to have already RSVP’d to the event in order to be considered for casting.
