SEEKING PLAYWRIGHTS The Empire Theatre Company presents The Incubator Series - March 31- April 3, 2022.
Co-produced with the Sam A. Johnson Fund for Arts and Humanities at the historic Empire Arts Center in Grand Forks, ND Seeking seven 10-minute plays by playwrights who identify as women residing anywhere in the world, written in English, along with seven monologues written by teenage girls in Grand Forks, ND or East Grand Forks, MN.
Topic:
We are interested in what is on your mind. However, the play must not exceed 10-minutes performing time. Please follow standard play format* and read your play aloud and time it. Due to the nature of the series, 11 minutes is 1 minute too long.
Considerations: Casts of no more than five, 2-4 is preferred. Sets will be representational, and directors will have access to a table, chairs, and cubes.
No complicated costume or lighting requirements.
Series will be presented in Studio E – the black box theatre at the historic Empire Arts Center. There are two entrances: One on stage right and left of the space.
Compensation: Each writer of a play will be paid $50 for performance rights.
Each monologue writer will be paid $25.
Submission Guidelines: Deadline is Dec. 31, 2021.
Please limit your submission to one play/monologue.
This include teenagers who are eligible to submit either a monologue or a 10-minute play.
Please email a blind copy of play/monologue. Submit two pdf documents attached in a single email:
Document #1: Title page with play/monologue title and playwright’s contact info.
Document #2 – Play/monologue without the playwright’s name anywhere in the script. Include just the title at the top of the first page.
Monologue writers: Teen girls must be in middle school or high school at the time of submission. Must attend school in Grand Forks, ND or East Grand Forks, MN. Please include your school on the title page.

Response: Playwrights will be notified by February 1st if their work is accepted for The Incubator Series. The Incubator Series is made possible by the Sam A.
