This sci-fi mystery takes us to a Space Station in the year 2167.
Dr. Mailer and Dr. Hughes, two scientists aboard the vessel, are working to understand the origins of an Emergency Craft found floating in space containing a female robot named Seventy-One.
It is believed the craft originated from a Space Station that exploded many years before, though Seventy-One’s systems have no record of it.
The play deals with identity, what it means to be human, and speculates on what the results might be of the ecological disaster that threatens our whole planet. Within this framework, the play is written with humor, humanity and suspense.
Our cast consists of Mel House, Caroline Aaron, John Rothman and Ben Mehl.
The play has already garnered many awards and citations including the Harold and Mimi Steinberg American Theatre Critics citation, the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Award for original script and production and a rare honorable mention from the Bay Area’s 2021
Will Glickman New Play Award.
The reading will take place Thursday, September 8th at 7 PM at
Manhattan Movement & Arts Center
248 West 60th Street, bet. 10th and 11th Avenues
