We are pleased to announce the SALTLAND Theatre Festival, Central New York's newest theatre festival, will take place from April 25-May 7, 2023 in Syracuse, NY.
For its inaugural presentation the SALTLAND Theatre Festival seeks to showcase theatrical productions that create new experiences for audiences of all ages. Festival productions will be a mix of brand new works and innovative re-tellings of previously produced work.
In addition to announcing the Festival, we would also like to invite members of your performing arts community to submit proposal(s) for work to be performed during the 2023 Festival. We are especially excited to receive production submissions that embody narratives written, directed, performed by, and about, historically underrepresented individuals, as well as work that speaks to theatre for young audiences and community engaged works. The submission form is currently open and we will be accepting electronic submissions until 11:59pm ET on February 1, 2023.

Calling for black-box style, intimate, or non-traditional performances
Split ticket sales with 80% of earnings going to your production team and 20% of earnings being retained by the festival to cover expenses.

The submission form is currently open and we will be accepting electronic submissions until 11:59pm ET on February 1, 2023.
Seeking:
- Fully produced shows of any size that would suit a black-box style, intimate, or non-traditional performance space venue.
- Productions that are at least 30 minutes and up to 2 hours in length.
- Productions that can conform to 30-minute load-in/load-out timeframes.
- Each production will be asked to complete a minimum of three performances throughout the duration of the Festival.
- Production teams will advertise their performances and the larger festival to their communities of fans.
Submissions will be reviewed by committee and selected productions will be notified no later than February 28, 2023.
We understand that your production may still be in development, so please do your best to accurately answer the submission questions, but know that we understand that performances may be “untitled” for now or that the script may change. Know that the more detail you are able to provide in your application, the clearer picture we will have about what you are producing, better enabling us to determine if your production is a good fit for the Festival. Shows that are selected to be included in the festival will need to provide a final script to the festival team no later than April 1, 2023.
As with all productions, teams will need to demonstrate that they have usage rights to produce a show before being accepted into the SALTLAND Theatre Festival.

- This includes a title, a one-sentence description of the show, a 500-word description of the show, and a character breakdown. We will also accept up to 10 pages of a script, if one is available, for review.
