Are you a writer whose life has been touched by adoption? We want your story for a new theater event that will highlight personal stories about adoption from diverse perspectives, with all viewpoints welcomed and encouraged.

This show will be professionally directed and performed in January 2022 in San Diego, CA. Writers agree that accepted pieces may become part of composite scenes that will feature multiple voices for maximum emotional impact and range. We commit to you that your submission will be treated with respect and compassion. If edits are necessary for flow and clarity, we will share these with you in advance. The intention is to create an annual adoption-themed theatrical experience; if your submission is not selected, it may be considered for a future production, with your permission. Thank you for entrusting us with your story.

This event is executive produced by Lauren Bergquist and Samantha Goldstein, founders of Love Swell Productions and two San Diego-based writers and veteran theater professionals, who are each respectively part of adoptive families.

Submission Details:

- Submission deadline: November 30, 2021

- No submission fee

- Guidelines can accommodate brief autobiographical theatrical works, such as a monologue, scene or short play. Writer may submit more than one submission for consideration.

- Please submit your piece via email to adoptiontheatreproject@gmail.com in MS Word or PDF format, with the subject line “Adoption Awareness Theater Project.” Include your name, title of piece, preferred contact information and short bio (150 words maximum).

- We will confirm receipt of your submission, and notify you in December 2021 whether or not your piece has been selected for this production.

- Please note: Accepted pieces may become part of composite scenes that will feature multiple voices for maximum emotional impact and range. If edits are necessary for flow and clarity, we will share these with you in advance.
